Bowden, Adelaide · Since 2016
One system.Ten thousandarrangements.
The 610 is an upright, a shelf and nine modules that drop between them, all in solid hardwood. Add to it when you move, take it apart when you move again. It is designed to be the last shelving you buy.
Part one
The upright
A single length of hardwood with a routed channel every 40 millimetres. Everything else in the system hangs off it, and it is the only part that touches your wall.

Timber
Four timbers, and no veneer
anywhere in the system.
Every part is solid, which is why a 610 can be sanded back and re-oiled in twenty years rather than thrown out. It is also why it costs what it costs.
In the room
It is meant to be lived with,
not looked at.
How it's made
Cut to your order,
not to a warehouse.
We hold timber, not finished furniture. Your uprights are docked the week you order, which is why it takes three to five weeks and why the grain matches.
Week one
Docked and dressed
Boards are selected for your order and machined to size. You get an email with a photograph of the actual stack.
Week two
Channels routed
Every upright is routed on the same jig, which is what makes a 610 bought in 2016 fit one bought this year.
Week three
Oiled and cured
Three coats of hard-wax oil, cut back between each. It cures for four days before it can be wrapped.
Week four
Flat-packed
Wrapped in wool felt and cardboard, no plastic. It arrives as a bundle of parts and an A5 card.
No. Shelves and boxes drop into the routed channels and lock with a quarter turn by hand. The only thing you might want is a spirit level and somebody to hold the second upright.
Anything over four rows, yes: two brackets at the top, supplied. Under four rows it is free-standing, though we would still fix it if there are children in the house.
That is the entire point. Every part made since 2016 fits every other part. Order a single upright and two shelves in ten years and it will line up with what you have.
Send us the dimensions before you order and we will tell you what works. Bays are fixed at 760mm because that is what keeps a solid shelf from sagging under books, and we would rather say no than sell you a shelf that bends.
